The Director General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Prof. Innocent Barikor has received an award Innovative and Strategic Leadership from university students under the aegis of Switch Initiative.
The Convener of the Switch Initiative, Mr. Moses Alalade said the group, which comprised of students from different universities devoted to promoting environmental sustainability on campuses, were deeply inspired by the achievements of Prof. Barikor since assumption of office as the Director General of NESREA.
Presenting the award, Mr. Alalade said, “Sir, this group is committed to campus-to- campus awareness on the environment. We have been following your activities and have seen your strategic and inclusive leadership, and your collaboration with other organizations to promote environmental Agenda. We have also noted your engagement with the youth on environmental issues. Your innovativeness is inspirational.”
Responding, Prof Baikor commended the students for being champions for the environment, saying, “I am always excited to see young people take the lead in environmental awareness creation. It gives me hope for the future. I commend your group and encourage you to keep pushing forward, and keep being that voice for the environment.”
