ACCREDITATION AND REGISTRATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANTS

The Act establishing the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) confers on the Agency the responsibility of:

  • Enforcing compliance with laws, guidelines, policies and standards on environmental matters;
  • Enforcing compliance with the provisions of international agreements protocols, conventions and treaties on the environment, to which Nigeria is a signatory;
  • Prohibit processes or technologies that can undermine environmental quality; and
  • Coordinating and liaising with stakeholders within and outside Nigeria, on matters of environmental standards, regulations and enforcement;

All Environmental Consultancy companies/ organizations that are duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Nigeria and have relevant expertise and proven competence in a broad spectrum of Environmental Issues, and who have not registered with NESREA, are hereby requested to apply for Registration and Accreditation as Environmental Consultants with the Agency.

Each application shall be accompanied by a non-refundable application fee of Twenty Five Thousand Naira (N25, 000.00) payable to any bank on the Agency’s Treasury Single Account in form of Remita payment receipt and deposited slip in favour of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency. Other documents to be submitted with the application letter are as follows:

  1. Registration Certificate of the Company/Organisation with the Corporate Affairs Commission;
  2. Article of Memorandum and Association;
  3. Particulars of Directors of the Company;
  4. Areas of specialization/expertise such as:
    • Environmental Audit;
    • Environmental Management Systems;
    • Environmental Studies;
    • Waste Management;
    • Environmental Technology; and
    • Environmental Laboratory Services.
  5. Evidence of competence in Environmental Consultancy;
  6. Evidence of previous jobs successfully completed;
  7. Evidence of registration with other relevant regulatory bodies; and
  8. Contact address, including e-mail address and telephone numbers.       

All applications shall be submitted on or before Monday, May 22, 2017, with the envelope marked “Application as Environmental Consultant” and forwarded to:

Applicants should collect a receipt on submission of their applications.
